The first step is to launch Hammer, the map editor for Portal 2 and other Source games. Camfrog android.
< Level Design Introduction (Portal 2)
Open the Steam window, pick the Tools tab and double-click Portal 2 Authoring Tools.
If this is your first time launching the Authoring Tools, it will take a little time to download and install.
Double-click Hammer World Editor to start the Hammer level editor.
Once Hammer is loaded, you can start a new level by going to the New from the File menu.
A new window with four editing areas should appear.
Note:If your viewports are not equally sized as in the image above, you can reset them by going to View and selecting Autosize 4 Views.
Hammer Editor interface layout
Here is a basic description of the Hammer interface. You will learn how to use these items throughout this tutorial, so don't worry about learning about how they all function quite yet.
Map Views and Operations bars
These bars across the top of the window contain a variety of buttons to control the viewing of objects in the map, as well as controls for the grid and snapping tools.
Tools bar
The Tools bar switches the editor to different modes that allow you to select, build, place, texture, and manipulate different objects in your level.
Selection Mode box
The Selection Mode box switches between modes of selecting objects in the map:
- Groups â You will select the whole sets of objects that have been grouped together.
- Objects â You will select an entire object even if it consists of more than 1 component.
- Solids â You will select individual components even if it has been joined with others to make one object.
Texture box
The Texture box allows you to see the currently selected texture and to browse for other textures by going into the Browse.. button.
Object box
Used to place objects in your level that are not simple geometry. While brushes are the basic building blocks of levels, entities placed with the Object box are pretty much everything else. You can place lights, props (models) and items using the Object box.
VisGroups box
VisGroups are a way to organize your level. You can place any type of object into VisGroups and label them so that you can hide them or reveal them as a group. This allows you to see what you're working on in a much cleaner way than leaving everything visible.
Status bar
The strip along on the bottom of the interface gives valuable information while you're editing, such as the size of the selected objects and the current grid settings.

Getting pictures, videos, and other files from your computer onto your phone should be quick and painless. Portal helps by making it as easy as drag and drop.
Portal is very easy to use. Just open the app and pull up portal.pushbullet.com on your computer and you're ready to go.
Files are transferred over your WiFi connection which mean they don't count toward your mobile data limit. This also means files are transferred very quickly (even if they're over 1 GB in size).
Features:
â Transfer individual files, multiple files, or entire folders at once
â Easily browse, open, or share the files you've put on your phone
â Pictures transferred with Portal are automatically put into your phone's Gallery
â Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or later: have Portal save files to your removable SD card!

It looks like the game automatically detects the old saves and converts them, but it didn't work for me. So i had to start a new game.

Darksiders series
This is intentional and by design. During the game's development, turrets could shoot through portals. This led to several bad experiences where playtesters would place a portal and then instantly get mowed down by bullets from an unseen direction. It often wasn't clear to players that it was a result if something they had done, and it really interfered with puzzle-solving. Changing it so that turrets can't shoot through portals helped a lot, and allowed for better puzzles in general.
Note: If you want turrets to shoot through portals, open up [Steam]/steamapps/common/portal 2/sdk_content/maps/instances/p2editor/turret.vmf in a text editor, find the turret object, and change the 'fire through portals' value from 0 to 1.
Portal 2 Steam Save Location
Publishing
When you edit a published map and save it, does that update the published version?
No. When you make changes to an already published map, those changes are local-only. (The word 'Published' gets a little star next to it to indicate that what you have is out of sync.) To make the changes live, you must re-publish.
Is there was a way to tweak and update published maps without having to delete and re-publish?
Yes. Just go to the Puzzle Maker, open the map, edit it, save it, and click publish. This will update the map and keep all of the ratings, comments, screenshots, etc. You can keep revising this way. Deleting a map loses all that important history and information, and should be avoided unless that's what you really want.
Hammer
Does Puzzle Maker replace Hammer or make the Authoring Tools obsolete?
The Puzzle Maker doesn't replace Hammer or the Portal 2 Authoring Tools in any way. It is meant to compliment them. Authors are free to use one or the other as they see fit. In fact, many Hammer users choose to use both.
Can authors export chambers made in Puzzle Maker to Hammer/Portal 2 Authoring Tools?
Yes. Puzzle Maker exports VMF format files that can be opened directly in Hammer for further fine tuning. Puzzles can be exported by opening up the console in the editor and typing 'puzzlemaker_export mapname', sans apostrophes, with mapname being the name of your map. It should be noted that when doing this you may need to open up the entrance elevator instance in your map and change the value for $no_player_start to 1 in order for the player to start in the elevator when uploaded. (Fixed, possibly?)
How about the other way? Can you export Hammer files back to the Puzzle Maker?
No. The export is one-way only, from Puzzle Maker to Hammer. Hammer is a very advanced and generalized tool, whereas the Puzzle Maker is totally focused on Portal 2 puzzle chambers. There's no way to easily allow Puzzle Maker to read VMF files.
